Moosomin Community Fridge is now open to the community. Anyone is welcome to access the fridge at anytime and anyone is encouraged to donate at anytime. The fridge is located in the back alley, behind the Moosomin Thrift Store at 609 Gordon Street. It holds a pantry which will house dry goods, a fridge and a freezer. It will allow anyone to access all three compartments quickly with no questions asked. It was made possibly by a grant from Farm Credit Canada. Along with FCC, this project was completed with help from various businesses, organizations and individuals in the community. It's a 4x12 insulated shed that is equipped with a heater, lights and cameras.
The motto of the shed is take what you need, leave what you can. This service is meant to benefit everyone in the community so please be respectful and only take what you need and save items for others as well. While the Thrift Store and Food Bank has initiated the service, it is up to the community to keep it stocked and going. We encourage people to give back to the community by donating items to the fridge. If you are wanting to donate, just simply drive up to the fridge and place your items inside. To keep updated on the fridge, please follow our Facebook page which is Moosomin Community Fridge and our Instagram page which is @MoosominCommunityFridge.
Listed on each door is rules and regulations as well as items you can and cannot donate. We also have a volunteer committee for the fridge if you are interested in helping out with this, please contact the store. If you would like to sponsor the fridge, a donation of $500.00 or more will get your name or logo on a plaque that will go on the side of the fridge. Monetary donations of any amount are gladly accepted.
