Clients can collect a monthly grocery hamper once a month per household. Moosomin Food Share is a rural community food share that tries to aid anyone in need, however those enrolled in government funded assistant programs or those in the lowest income bracket will be helped first. Moosomin Food Share radius is Moosomin, Wapella, Welwyn and Fleming. If you are outside those areas, we will help you contact your nearest food share.
New Clients: If this is your first time needing a hamper, you will have to either register online or in person. Please have ID available for everyone in your household when applying. If you have trouble with the form, you can register in person prior to your first visit. The reason we collect the information we are asking from you is so we can enter it into our Food Banks Software, Link2Feed. This software is mandatory with Food Banks Canada and all information is strictly confidential. You are considered a new client if you have not accessed our food share in the last 12 months. If needing assistance more than once, you will have to make an appointment with our administration. We do not provide bags, so please bring something to transport your food with you. You will be given a client number and a date/time for your first visit. When you arrive at the food share, please come to the back red door and ring the doorbell.
People in the same household need to be registered on the same form. You have to let us know at least one week in advance of hamper day if you would like a hamper for that month. Failure to do so, will ensure you won't receive milk, bread and eggs. Advise our members if you have any special requests regarding your order. Please note that we can only fulfill certain requests depending on availability of product.
If for some reason you cannot attend Moosomin Food Share on the day you are scheduled for your order pick up, you must phone 306-435-2633 to reschedule or cancel your order. Please do not text or call any volunteers or staff member's personal phones. It must be on the office phone. If we do not answer, please leave us a message. Given the volume of orders, we cannot hold your order past your original scheduled appointment. If after this time we have not received a call about a missed order, you could be suspended for 30 days so please make sure to contact us if there is a change. If there are repeated occurrences or orders not being picked up, it could result in your account being cancelled.
Unfortunately, due to safety and health reasons, we cannot replace products that have left the premises and encourage you to take time to go through your order prior to leaving. A food hamper item may contain a "best before" or "use by date". Canned food may be dented, discard after opening if contents spray out after opening.
There is zero tolerance for verbal and physical abuse. Observation of recent alcohol or drug usage will result in asking you to leave the premises.
